The National Constitution Center is holding a Vegetable Party, and everyone is invited. From noon to 4 p.m. today, the museum will showcase the efforts of local urban farmers, chefs, and activists to teach visitors about the origins of the food Americans consume. There will be family-friendly activities, recycling-craft projects, and presentations of "Food and Government: Sometimes a Sticky Situation," at noon, 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. A model garden, sponsored by the Philadelphia Eagles, will be open in front of the museum at 525 Arch St. on Independence Mall. The event is part of the center's innovative architecture exhibit "Into the Open," and is free with general admission. Tuck in the animals

The Philadelphia Zoo will be open after hours. As a part of "Sunset Safari," families will be able to enjoy the zoo from 5 to 8 tonight. There will be food specials, live music, and animal feedings. Visitors will get the chance to watch their favorite animals get ready for bed and to wish them a good night. The event is free with general admission. Love at twilight

Bryn Mawr Twilight Concerts will present Romeo and Juliet, part of Shakespeare in the Park, at 7 p.m. Saturday, as Theatre Horizon's Young Company of Actors hit the stage of the Bryn Mawr Gazebo, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave. The players will include Shipley School graduate Brad Strange, Radnor High School graduate Aaron Stall, and other actors from Methacton, Bryn Mawr, and Malvern, and acting programs at Temple University, DeSales University, and Villanova. Sitar virtuoso

Madhu Nanduri, who released his new CD, Raga Time, in June, will perform Saturday at the Psalm Salon, 5841 Overbrook Ave. The show begins at 8 p.m. and is hosted by the Sangeet Society, a nonprofit group that promotes Hindustani (North Indian) classical music. Nanduri was born in Bangalore and brought up in Hyderabad, India. His sitar performance, accompanied by Hemkalyan Bapat on the tabla, promises to give a true feel for the Hindustani music he grew up with. Tickets: $16 in advance; $20 at the door. The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum opens its monthlong Classic Motorcycles exhibit this weekend. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, more than 30 classic motorcycles will be on display, including the 1962 Norton Manx, the 1937 Velocette Mk VII, and more than a dozen vintage Harley-Davidsons. A historic XRTT 750 Harley-Davidson, the last bike to be ridden by racer Cal Rayborn, will be featured. The exhibit, at 6825 Norwitch Dr., is included with regular museum admission.
